Sealday privacy policy

Sealday has no accounts, no servers that store your capsules, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Capsules are created, encrypted and kept on your iPhone. The app makes two kinds of network requests: one to a public drand relay on open day, and purchase checks through Apple and a billing service.

Who is responsible for your data?

The developer of Sealday is responsible for this policy. Sealday has no account and no server that stores your capsules, so the developer does not receive them.

What stays on my iPhone?

Capsules (letters, guesses, photos, voice notes), drafts, Tables, settings and your birthday are stored in the app on your iPhone. Sealed content is encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and its key is time-locked with drand. App data is encrypted at rest with a key kept in the iOS Keychain.

iOS includes the app's files in your iCloud Backup or computer backup when backups are on. That backup is controlled by you and Apple. If you export a vault file, it goes where you save it.

What does the time beacon see?

To open a capsule, the app downloads that date's public key from drand relays (api.drand.sh, api2.drand.sh, api3.drand.sh and drand.cloudflare.com). The request contains only a round number. Like any web request, the relay operator can see your IP address. Sealday does not run these relays.

What about purchases?

Apple processes payments. Sealday uses a third-party billing service to check your Plus status. The billing service receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history, with no name, email or capsule content, and keeps them under its own policy. In the App Store privacy label this is declared as Purchases, not linked to you and not used for tracking.

What happens to links and files I send?

A capsule link keeps the sealed capsule after the "#" in the address. Browsers do not send that part to any server, so sealday.app never receives it. The names and the open date on the envelope are readable by whoever holds the link, and the content is encrypted until the date. Files go only where you share them.

The sealday.app website is static. Its host may keep standard request logs, such as IP address and page address without the "#" part, for security. There are no cookies or analytics.

Which permissions does it use?

Camera: only when you take a photo for a capsule. Microphone: only while you record a voice note. Photos: the system picker gives the app only the photos you choose. Notifications: local reminders scheduled on your iPhone, with no push server.

How do I delete my data?

Data stays on your iPhone until you remove it. Open You > Delete all data. It erases capsules, drafts, tables, Keychain keys, scheduled reminders and settings on that iPhone. Deleting the app also removes its data, except anything in your own backups or vault files. Purchases stay with your Apple ID.

Children and changes

Sealday is a general audience app, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date. Questions: use the contact details at the end of this page.
